About Separia
Is Separia a law firm?
No. Separia is a private membership, not a law firm. Nothing inside Separia is legal advice for your specific situation. The content is written by a family law attorney, but membership in Separia does not create an attorney-client relationship.
Who is Separia for?
People navigating separation and divorce — at any stage. Whether you’re still sitting with the question, organizing before you file, in the middle of the legal process, or building what comes after.
Is Separia only for people who have decided to divorce?
Not yet — and that might be exactly why you’re here. The Before stage is for people sitting with the question, before any paperwork.
Is Separia only available in Florida?
No. Separia is available throughout the United States. The content is written by a Florida family law attorney, so Florida-specific law is noted where relevant. General legal principles, financial guidance, and emotional support apply broadly across all states.
What makes Separia different from a Google search or a Facebook group?
The content is written by a practicing family law attorney with 22 years of experience, not crowdsourced. It’s organized by stage, vetted for accuracy, and designed to build knowledge systematically. The community is private and moderated. And you have live access to ask the founding attorney directly.
Membership & Pricing
What does membership include?
Two tiers. Core access at $29.99 per month for the attorney-authored content and member community. Insider at $79.99 per month adds the weekly live session, the archived session library, and full community and marketplace access. Both are available as 6-month plans at a discount.
What is the difference between Core and Insider?
Core ($29.99/month) gives you the full attorney-authored content library and read-only community access. Insider ($79.99/month) adds the weekly live session with the founding attorney, the full archive of past sessions, full community posting access, and direct access to the vetted professional marketplace.
How much does Separia cost?
Core membership is $29.99 per month or $149.35 for six months (save 17%). Insider membership is $79.99 per month or $383.95 for six months (save 20%). Both tiers can be cancelled at any time.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. You can cancel at any time before your next renewal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. There are no cancellation fees.
What is the six-month plan?
The six-month plan is a single charge billed every six months instead of monthly. Core six-month is $149.35 (saves $30.59 vs monthly). Insider six-month is $383.95 (saves $95.93 vs monthly). Cancel anytime before the next renewal date.
Is there a free trial?
There is no free trial at this time. The Library — Separia’s free public publication — gives you a full sense of the depth, voice, and quality of the content before you join.
Privacy & Safety
Is my information private?
Yes. Aggressively so. Nothing inside Separia ever shows up in a Google search of your name. We built it that way because we wouldn’t use it otherwise.
Do I have to share my name to use Separia?
No. First name only, and only if you want to post in the community. The rest of the platform works without it.
Can my spouse find out I have a Separia account?
Separia does not appear in search results tied to your name. Billing may appear on shared financial statements depending on your situation — the same as any subscription. Members who need additional billing discretion should use a separate payment method.
Is Separia secure?
Yes. Separia uses industry-standard security practices. Member content is not shared with third parties. Community posts are visible only to other members, not to the public web.
What is the Quick Exit button?
The Quick Exit button in the navigation immediately redirects your browser to Google.com. It’s there for situations where you need to leave quickly without leaving Separia in your browser history. It is available on every page.
The Platform & Content
What are the four stages?
Before (for people sitting with the question, before any paperwork), Between (preparing before you file — finances, conversations, logistics), Through (moving through the legal and emotional steps of the process), and After (building the life that comes after). You join at the stage you’re in and move between stages as your situation changes.
What is the Library?
The Library is Separia’s free public publication. It publishes long-form articles on separation, divorce, and rebuilding, written by the founding attorney and vetted contributors. It’s free and accessible to everyone, with no account required.
What is the weekly live session?
The weekly live session is a real-time Q&A hosted by Aliette Hernandez Carolan, the founding attorney. Members submit questions in advance or ask live. Sessions are archived so Insider members can watch at any time. Live sessions are available to Insider members.
What is the vetted marketplace?
A curated list of professionals: CDFAs (Certified Divorce Financial Analysts), mediators, therapists, coaches, and real estate specialists. Each professional was personally interviewed by the founding attorney. This is not a referral directory — every listing was individually reviewed. Available to Insider members.
Is there a mobile app?
Not yet. Separia is a web application accessible on any device with a browser. A mobile app is in development.
The Founder & Legal
Who founded Separia?
Separia was founded by Aliette Hernandez Carolan, a family law attorney with 22 years of practice. She is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator, a Forbes Legal Advisory Board member (2024), and the author of Just In Case! Lose Your Heart, Not Your Mind. She has been quoted in the New York Times on divorce and relationships.
Does Separia create an attorney-client relationship?
No. Membership in Separia does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and the founding attorney or any other attorney. The content inside Separia is legal information, not legal advice for your specific situation.
What is The Quick Divorce?
The Quick Divorce is a separate platform founded by the same attorney. It handles divorce document preparation for people who have decided to proceed with a divorce. Separia and The Quick Divorce are sister brands that operate independently.
Is Separia affiliated with Carolan Family Law Firm?
Separia was founded by the same attorney who founded Carolan Family Law Firm, PA. However, they are separate organizations. Carolan Family Law Firm is a litigation practice. Separia is a private membership and information service. Membership in Separia does not create a relationship with the law firm.
